Accessing the Bellevue University Virtual Testing Environment CYBR607 – 2015.pdf- This week you get to use a forensic tool WinHex, http://www.x-ways.net/winhex/.You can complete this assignment either on your own PC or you can use the on-line, virtual sandbox PC assigned to you. If you are using the virtual sandbox PC, see the instructions above. Login to the virtual environment with your BU student number / password. Your instructor will provide the user id and password to access your sandbox virtual PC.For this assignment, follow the instructions in your textbook (Guide to Computer Forensics and Investigations 5th ed) Chapter 9 under Validating with Hexadecimal Editors (pages 367-369). Note, Word isn’t available in the sandbox environment, so use WordPad instead and save it in RTF and XML formats. There are other documents available in the Documents folder for you to practice on.
You also need to complete the Hands-On Project 9-1 located on pg 383-384. Complete the assignments as listed and include a one page synopsis of your findings. You should take screenshots of your progress and place it all into a single Word document with your name, class, and assignment number. You can use the Microsoft “Snipping Tool” to capture screen shots.
