- Using the provided website App-App mockups in the memo from Meadow and requested data requirements, perform a detailed analysis of the data requirements.
- Follow the steps for creating an E-R Diagram:
1.) List the Entities (Tables)
2.) List the Attributes of each Entity (Fields)
3.) Define the Relations between the Entities (Relations)
4.) Define the Data Integrity Rules and Constraints (Key Fields, Data types, Null allowed, etc.)
- Use MySQL Workbench to build your preliminary database design.
(Do not forward engineer the database yet).
- Add a database diagram to the MySQL workbench model showing any necessary relations between tables. This can be done by clicking the Add Diagram button on the model design page. Add tables to the diagram by dragging them from the Tables list on the Catalog Tree pane.
Submit the following:
- Submit the MySQL Workbench data model file (*.mwb) complete with data diagram showing all relations.
- Note: This is not a formal finalized database design model yet at this point. (This is an initial prototype to help solidify your thoughts and design concepts and discover any data integrity issues that may arise.)
*Forward Engineering a database refers to taking the database model you have designed in MySQL Workbench and using the “Forward Engineering” tools to execute the SQL code on the database server which, in turn, physically creates the database from the model on the database server.
