A 5-7 page paper stating a problem and the solution. The problem is an unorganized walk-in only medical clinic with unhappy patients and staff. The solution is the medical clinic becoming appointment based and assigned doctors to patients. Below are discussions that go more in-depth about about the paper and what it entails including intended audience and main characters in the solution/problem report and the purpose of the report. I will need 3-5 sources including articles about organization and the benefits of having an assigned doctors to patients. Here is the discussion:

The intended audience for my problem/solution report is Dr. Eric Sandoval, the Lead Physician at Primary Health Care Clinic. My audience can also include other physicians and coworkers who might want to add solutions to the problems stated in my letter.

The Purpose of the problem/solution report is to notify those in the workspace of the problems that are affecting the work environment and our relationship with patients.

This problem needs to be addressed immediately because of the loss patients, which is affecting workers financially and the chaotic work days is causing bad morale to spread amongst workers.

Possible solutions include electronic appointment scheduling and assigned primary doctors to patients.

Research:

I plan to utilize information from other health care clinics in the area to see how organization has helped minimize cluster in the work space. Talking to doctors to see how many patients they normally see a day can give me an idea of how many appointments we can schedule a day for doctors. We could possibly use certain labor laws to create a standard for how many hours those in the healthcare field should be working so we can establish guidelines.

Dear Dr. Sandoval, It is a pleasure working with you and the rest of my colleagues at Primary Health Care Clinic. I really enjoy spending time with you and the rest of the great staff at this facility, it gives me the chance to develop professionally. While we have a fantastic group of doctors and nurses, I have noticed we lack in organization.

The lack of structure and professionalism here has been resulting in bad reviews from our patients. The wait-time for patients and inorganization has caused them to look for other health care facilities in the area, directly affecting all of us financially. It has been stated that walk-in and first-come, first-serve style takes entirely too long and that a patient is rarely able to see the same doctor about a specific problem. The inorganization also forces the staff to work longer hours, most of us have families and would like a set schedule.

I believe we should implement an appointment-based structure at Primary Health Care Clinic and allow walk-ins from 7:00 AM- 10:00 AM. I also believe that we should make it a priority for patients to be seen by doctors that have seen the before. Imposing set working hours will allow for maximum efficiency for seeing patients and lets patients know what are the best times to be seen for walk-in appointments. This allows everyone, both staff and patients to use their time more effectively. It also allows for the staff to make plans with their free time because they would be getting off at relatively the same time everyday not when the last patient is seen. This can directly boost morale. Allowing patients to see the same doctor gives the patient and the doctor a chance to be familiar with each other. This can lead to fast appointments, because of familiarity a doctor may not have to go over medical history and other minor things which can save time and allow the facility to maximize the number of patients we see a day.
