CLASSMATE POST #1

Ten questions I would ask my client during our meeting would be:

  • What does the business do?
  • Is there already an existing web site and what features did you like or dislike?
  • What should this website accomplish?
  • Are there any competitor’s?
  • What makes the company unique?
  • What websites do you enjoy visiting and why?
  • Who are your target audience?
  • What features do you want the website to have?
  • What is the scope of the project? (deadlines, milestones, budget, point(s) of contact)
  • Do you have a specific style, format or color scheme to adhere to?

Steps I would take to complete the website would be Planning, Design, Testing, Development, and Launch. Planning phase consists of creating a site map, identifying the target audience, and setting website goals. Design phase would be the addition of content, editing images, and coding CSS. Development stage, we get into coding HTML, uploading our pages to the server/host, and writing scripts. Testing phase allows us to validate codes, troubleshoot any errors, and test hyperlinks. Last would come our Launch phase; publishing the website, submitting the site to search engines, and marketing the website.

After first having a project brief, Deliverables I would need to supply Mr. Thomas with during the design process would be wireframes, design mock ups, and the final prototype. Wireframes are the visual representation of a website, showing the navigation and a rough page layout. Wireframes can be interactive to allow the client to preview the website’s function. Design mock ups is a single image of the website showing what the content, colors, and images would look like for the final product. The design mock up gives the client the opportunity to provide feedback on the website’s interface. The last Deliverable would be the final prototype. The website’s design mock up is implemented and the site is built on the development servers subdomain. This allows the development team and client to review the website in real time and ensure no links are broken and no content is missing.

CLASSMATE POST #2

The ten questions I would ask Mr. Thomas include:

What does your business do?

What are your goals and main purpose for this website?

Do you have a website already?

What do you like about your current site, or other sites that relate to your business?

Who are your competitors, and what makes you stand out from them?

Who is your target demographic, what do they need, and how can you meet those needs?

What features do you want included on your website, what do you think a successful website looks like or does?

What existing styles, logos, brochures, or information that could pertain or help build a website do you have?

What do you feel is a reasonable deadline for the launch of the website?

What is your budget?

The steps I would take to complete the website would start with making a plan that Mr. Thomas and I would establish when we have our meeting and I ask him the various questions listed above. After we have a plan outlined, I would begin the design process. Once a basic design is approved by Mr. Thomas then development would start. After developing the website, it would also need to be approved by Mr. Thomas before moving on to testing the website. Once the website has been tested to make sure it all works and displays correctly, the website would launch.

During the process, I would need to stay in communication with Mr. Thomas as he has various aspects to approve during the process of creating and launching a website. These key deliverables would include the basic design, the fully developed website ready for testing, and then the actual launch of the website.

IT261: Desktop Adminstration

Topic 1: Hardware Recommendations

Review the hardware requirements (minimum and recommended) for Windows 10. Examine the processor and memory requirements carefully. As a desktop administrator, you may be asked to recommend desktop and laptop systems for new employees. Do some research and share your hardware recommendations with classmates, including a brief summary of the features and approximate cost. Be certain to include citations, and add your references at the end of your post.

CLASSMATE POST #3

Hello Everyone,

The minimum requirements for installing Windows 10 depends on if you use a 32 bit or 64 bit. You will need to have a 1GHz processor or faster and depending if you use 32-bit the minimum requirement is only 1GB, and for 64 bit you will to have at least 2GB. These parts all determine just what kind of software it can handle as well as how many applications you can have running at the same time. The price will depend on the quality of the part you are looking for, with a single 1ghz processor ranging from anywhere from $25-$100, with 1 GB of RAM costing you about $10.

CLASSMATE POST #4

Hi class.

There are some bare minimum requirements that PCs must meet in order to run Windows 10. These include a 1GHz or better processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of drive space, & a display capable of 800×600 resolution (“How to Check Windows 10”, n.d.). If not meeting at least the above criteria, Windows 10 will fail to operate. However, there are a few recommendations that can boost performance above the minimum specifications. For processor, I would recommend either utilizing at least a recent generation Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3. This would allow for typical max speeds of around 3GHz and one can expect to spend around $100 to $150 depending on which variant. RAM size of just 1 GB would be very restricting for many functions of the computer, a 4GB stick would help alleviate some of these constraints and most can be found around $30 or so. The storage amount and display would vary depending on usage of the computer (office productivity, web browsing, media editing, etc.), but the above-mentioned processor and RAM upgrades are what I would consider at a minimum for most persons.
