Goal: Create a taxonomy of germinal and current management theories. (I have started this but needs to be arranged and added to.)
In your textbook reading, you learned about the history of management. Use the internet and the eLibrary to identify at least seven management theories. You will need to distinguish between management, leadership and theories of motivation. Your taxonomy should only include management theories.
- Identify at least seven management theories
- List the theorist and timeframe for each.
- Write a brief description of each theory.
- Identify the source of your information, citing at least 10 references to valid (recent, relevant, high-quality) external sources of information pertaining to management theory. (Wikipedia, About.com, eHow are not considered high quality sources.) At least 3 sources need to come from the eLibrary, and be other than your identified readings contained in the course (All the ones I’ve included have come from the eLibrary, please find the rest that have a free link to the website, so I can view the entire article).
- Organize your findings to create a taxonomy of these theories and styles. You will likely want your taxonomy to be chronological or categorically organized.
