I have attached assignment 5.pdf which is the guidelines to write the course reflection paper.

also attached the documents that done in course.

Things did in the courses are:

1. Technical writing for me rather than a resource, is an indispensable form of communication to be able to write contexts. A few examples are professional, scientific and investigative nature. As a future nurse, the ability to write in a technical way, allows me to explore and understand much more about the vast and extensive world of Medicine. It also provides me with a rich and proportionate knowledge and being able to supply clear and concise information on the patient’s health status.

My desire is not only to use this tool in the labor force or any other professional area, but, also in many aspects of my life such as to become a good researcher and improve my communication skills. Gurak & Lannon suggest that “technical communication help us interact with technology in our daily lives.” (p. 3), furthermore, since we are living in a futuristic time, with great advances in technology being made everyday, the use of technical writing is increasingly imposed as an activity of vital importance for the development of ideas open to the contemporary world.
In order to explain to a person who is unfamiliar with this subject, the first step could be describing in more detail the meaning of technical writing and the difference from a regular writing, such as a composition course which may use basic language suitable for any audience. I’ve shown several examples and have detailed how important technical writing can be today, and how it has contributed not only in research and scientific areas, but, also in many human endeavors.

2.When you create a document, you are concerned with both the words that you will use and the appearance of the pages. In other words, you should take into consideration both the content and the design of your document. Design concerns the appearance and placement of text, illustrations, and white space on a page. Design elements are part of your message. Used well, they can help readers to find, understand, and remember information more effectively. Used poorly, they can impede your reader’s understanding and even send them away without delivering your message. Effective design attracts readers to the content and adds credibility to the document and to your message.

Starting this week, you will learn to consciously apply good document design practices to all documents that you will create for the rest of the course. For this week, you will write a set of instructions. Instructions are among the most common types of document in technical writing. Instructions are everywhere informing readers how to make, assemble, or create something. You may have followed instructions to log onto a computer at work, to download and use an App on your smart phone, or simply to make a gourmet dinner at home following recipes. It is likely that you will create them often in your career if not as a formal document then at least in a variety of informal written and oral communications. This is something many of you will have to do on one occasion or another later.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this week’s lessons and assignments, you should be able to:

  • Apply the four basic principles of document design (contrast, repetition, alignment, proximity).
  • Design documents for consistency, navigation, and emphasis.
  • Choose/create illustrations suited to the purpose of your document.
  • Label and display illustrations properly.
  • Identify elements of instructions.
  • Identify the differences between instructions and descriptions.
