Introduction

Throughout your program, you have been collecting artifacts from your classes and placing them into your ePortfolio. In this assessment, you will be selecting three artifacts per program outcome, rating your proficiency in those areas, and providing the link for your instructor to review your ePortfolio.

Instructions

As part of the requirements for this capstone course, you are expected to be able to demonstrate that you have successfully mastered all of the program outcomes for this specialization. In order to do that, select three artifacts for each program outcome that you have completed throughout your coursework that you feel best demonstrate your mastery of the outcome.

For each program outcome, self-assess your proficiency using this scale:

0 – Non-performance: I have no experience or expertise in this.
1 – Basic: I have limited experience and expertise in this.
2 – Proficient: I have some experience and average expertise in this.
3 – Distinguished: I have extensive experience and expertise in this.

Then, write a short narrative explanation of the proficiency level you selected. What evidence do you have to support your choice?

Finally, list the three specific artifacts (assessments) you have created during your program that demonstrate your achievement of this program outcome. (After you have listed these artifacts, go into your ePortfolio and add them to the appropriate program outcome area.)

The following are the 7 program outcomes for which you will collect three artifacts from previous courses to demonstrate your mastery:

  • Integrate relevant learning science research and theories to inform effective curriculum, instruction, and assessment design and delivery.
  • Apply curricular design models and theories to develop effective curriculum that addresses short- and long-term instructional planning goals and addresses applicable standards-based requirements.
  • Design and deliver instructional methods supported by applicable theories and research-based models of teaching to meet the needs of diverse learners and discipline-specific content.
  • Integrate educational technology tools and practices into curriculum, instructional, and assessment design and delivery to facilitate effective teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a variety of assessment strategies to assess student learning and interpret and communicate results to drive future curricular and instructional decisions at the classroom and school level.
  • Address the needs of diverse learner populations by employing curriculum, instruction, and assessment strategies appropriate for students’ cultural backgrounds and different learning needs.
  • Exhibit the professional dispositions of effective teachers by engaging in research-based practice, reflective teaching practice, professional growth and development, and employing effective communication strategies with stakeholders.
