We read a variety of perspectives about women’s rights, privileges, and oppressions. For this discussion board, connect at least two of the works that we read in terms of message, themes, purpose, or argument. The connection doesn’t have to be a similarity; it could also look at how two pieces offer different viewpoints. You could, for instance, look at how Eliot judges “silly novels” in comparison to how Stanton judges how the government differentiates rights for certain groups of people. Or, you think about Eliot’s criticisms and think about what she would say about Jacob’s narrative? Feel free to be creative in how you connect two of the works, but make sure you use quotes to support your ideas.

In at least two short paragraphs, be sure to answer the questions in complete, correct, detailed, and well-supported sentences. These are the listed readings and the articles are attached.

"Silly Novels by Lady Novelists," George Eliot
"From Address to the New York State Legislature, 1860" Elizabeth Cady Stanton
"The Rights of Woman," Anna Letitia Barbauld
From Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, "Chapter V. The Trials of Girlhood" and "Chapter VI. The Jealous Mistress" Harriet Jacobs,

Read and respond (in 5-7 sentences) to at least TWO classmates.

Maria, the landlord, refuses to fix a small leak in the roof that was there prior to the current tenant. The consequence is that black mold has been forming in the attic.Juan, the current tenant, still has significant time remaining on his lease.Juan has notified Maria in writing of the mold and leak issue. He is concerned about the premises becoming unsafe to live in. It has been 14 days since he emailed her his notification. What are Juan’s options if Maria declines to do the repairs?

UCC Sales Contract

The following question is based on the Sales Contract found in the Contracts Module. Please reference the Sales Contract by clause number as you answer the questions.Remember, this is a contract under the UCC.

  • Essay (1-2 complete paragraphs per essay with text references to support your answers)

You received non-conforming goods as a result of an ambiguity in the contract. You ordered goods thinking it was a particular product. You wanted Razor scooters as that was the original oral communication when the selling merchant was first contacted by you. Thereafter, in phone conversations, you and the seller just talked about scooters. The selling merchant shipped scooters but not Razor scooters.Upon receipt of the goods, what are your merchant options under the contract?

Why are text references important?Contract language does not exist in a vacuum. It is written based on the law.It is critical, therefore, to cite to the text to support your analysis.

Essay Prompt

Write a minimum 3-page essay (minimum 750 words) that either supports or disagrees with two of Thomas Carver’s arguments from pages 16-34. In the beginning, you will be arguing with in support of Carver’s arguments or in disagreement with them. You may also find that you agree with one of his arguments but disagree with another of his arguments. This point of view may also be one you can take: to show support for one argument but, then, to argue against a different one.

You agree on #1, but disagree on #1. Both agreement and disagreement should be in the essay.

#1 agreement: Carver argues that ” we could get away from this anthropological, as well as from intuitional viewpoint, and look upon teh whole moral problem as a problem of adaptation and adjustment, we should be a different conclusion”. I agree with Carver’s idea; his argument makes sense to me because in life we all do have to make adjustments to the material universe. In our day to day lives any adjustment that brings out comfortability is good and any adjustment that is uncomfortable is bad(24).

#2 disagreement: Carver elaborates that ” nature is non-moral or that the scientist is unable to discover anything resembling a moral order is virtually to say that nature does not seem to conform to our pro-conceived notions of morality, or that the scientist is unable to discover in the order of the universe anything resembling what he has been taught to regard as the moral order(25)”. I disagree with Carver’s use of this metaphor; the metaphor is the personification of nature. Depending on what you believe in, you could either completely agree with Carver, or disagree. From a religious point of view, to say that nature is non-moral, is to say that the universe is non-moral; if you believe that there is a divine being, then you are also saying the divine being is non-moral for the universe is the divine being.

Also essay should have at least 3 quotes and 3 paraphrases and many sentences that uses semi-colons (big part of essay is the use of complex sentences)

Often medical treatments do not work. Yet our society seems to favor attempts to “fix” health problems, no matter the odds of their success. Dr. Gawande from Being Mortal: Medicine and what Matters in the End quotes statistics that show 25% of Medicare spending goes to the 5% of patients in the last stages of life. Why do you think it’s so difficult for doctors and/or families to refuse or curtail treatment? How should priorities be set?
