Today, we know that Earth’s climate is changing. Climate warming is an indisputable fact, and the impact on human life is obvious. At present, the climate in Canada is gradually changing, and the changes that will occur in the future maybe even greater. In this case, Canadian scientists also said that global warming has a greater impact on Canada than in other countries.

Nationally, Canada’s summer has risen by 1 degree, with an average increase of 1.4 degrees in winter (CBC News, 2018). Catherine Abreu, head of the Climate Change Action Network, said residents near the coast are experiencing sea-level rise, erosion, and flooding (Government of Canada, 2019). In Canada, the most serious negative impact of climate warming is the increase in flooding. Floods are also the most expensive. Some experts said they stay concerned that Canada has no relative policies to deal with larger disasters. Scientists also face the challenge of how to influence government decisions based on scientific research.

Climate change will lead to reduced production of Canadian barley, making fermented malt more expensive, beer will be reduced, and prices will rise. Barley is a crop used to make beer, and studies have shown that if the global climate rises by 4 to 5 degrees, barley will cut production by 17%. Research predicts that beer prices in Canada will double, which will reduce total consumption by 30% (Chappell, 2018).

With climate change, air pollution, lack of freshwater resources, and humanity face more uncertainty. Psychologists have found that extreme weather can also affect people’s psychology, known as “ecological anxiety” (Fawbert, 2019). It means that people who are unable to control climate change, especially those who have experienced floods and forest fires, and who have lost their homes in an instant, are far more psychologically harmful than previously thought.
