Read Case 5-1 FedEx Corporation (pp. 167-168) in the textbook. Answer all parts of the following requirements (note: these are not the discussion questions listed in the textbook at the end of the case).
- Complete a Porter’s Five Force Analysis on the industry in which FedEx operates. Identify each of the five competitive forces and discuss in terms of the industry and FedEx.
- Complete a full SWOT analysis on FedEx (S/W) and the industry (O/T).
- Identify and analyze FedEx’s competitive advantages.
- Read and analyze the mission of FedEx. How does this mission support the findings from the industry analysis, SWOT analysis, and competitive advantage? How does this mission not support (not address) findings from the industry analysis, SWOT analysis, and competitive advantage?
- Based on the analysis, what type of corporate-level strategies (growth, stability, and/or turnaround and retrenchment) should FedEx pursue?
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Use outside sources to support your analysis for each and every one of the five components. Do NOT use FedEx website as your only supporting source in any of the five components.
- Thoroughly address each of the five components.
- Case analysis should be 4-6 pages, not including title page or references.
- Case analysis should include at least 4 (four) references/resources. The textbook can be one reference and the FedEx website can be one reference. Need at least two additional references.
- Write in paragraph form with minimal use of bullets/numbering.
- Adhere to APA formatting and rules for written assignments:
- Outlined in Syllabus, page 12
- APA and formatting resources available in the APA Information & Resources Module in Canvas
