Discussion: The Political Goals of Public Schooling
Spring (2016) lists the major political goals of American schools that includes “teaching a common set of political beliefs and educating patriotic citizens” (p. 11). Discuss with your coursemates:
- Three (3) political beliefs that are highlighted in the Spring text, or you can bring in outside resources to support your claims. Please provide the proper citation.
- Is it the responsibility of schools to promote common political beliefs and educate students to be patriotic citizens? Explain why or why not.

Perception of Urban Education:

Then discuss how your perceptions either changed or remained the same based on the articles by Jacob and Watson et al.
